The Soul Without a Summer is going live tomorrow on Amazon! I have completed a few last minute edits over the past week, including removing the last section I had entitled Dystopia. The poems in that section were specifically about climate change, and they always felt a bit incongruous when taking in the theme of the book as a whole. I had to admit to myself that I was only including them to increase my page count. Those poems are in a new folder on my desktop waiting to be included in a future collection entirely focused on the environment. This leaves The Soul Without A Summer at 115 pages, which is still pretty hefty for a poetry collection.
I must confess, I have dragged my heels in regards to the Kindle edition. The KDP software is very limited in how I can align text and format fonts. It is designed more for novelists than poets. My previous collections (Magic & Mayhem and Nulligravida) have Kindle editions, but I have never been happy with how the ebooks look despite the effort I put in making sure they were laid out properly. I am hoping to use the app provided by my book cover designer to format the Kindle edition and hopefully it will turn out better.
So tomorrow is the release of the paperback, with the Kindle edition coming in the next few months.
I hope my work moves you and gives you catharsis for any kind of grief you may be experiencing. Writing is my therapy, and putting this together has helped me tremendously.
